All-Inclusive Bending Service

 

We offer an all-inclusive bending service for the cold internal bending of pre-insulated plastic-jacketed pipes—from pipe preparation and the actual bending process through to final quality control and documentation. We use our patented pipe-bending technology to achieve precise and reproducible bending results.

 

Depending on your project requirements, the bending can take place directly on-site at your construction site, at your facility, or at our facility in Celle. Which option is best suited for your project depends, among other things, on local conditions, the scope of the project, and logistical constraints.

How does an on-site bending service work?

 

If the bending is to take place directly on the construction site, we bring our mobile bending system to your construction project. Depending on the nominal pipe diameter, we use different systems: Up to and including DN 400, we work with our compact in-house bending systems. These are transported to the construction site via a vehicle trailer and are fully integrated into it.

The machines for larger diameters—DN 450 through DN 1000—are permanently installed in a 20-foot ocean freight container and are transported to the construction site by truck.

Depending on your requirements, our internal bending jigs can be reconfigured directly at your construction site to accommodate different wall thicknesses. It is also possible to switch to a different nominal pipe diameter within a certain range using a single machine.

This allows us to respond flexibly to your needs throughout your project.

 

The bending systems alone require a footprint of approximately 2.5 m x 6 m. A working area of about 3.5 m x 25 m is necessary for safe operation, including pipe handling. Setup on the construction site is usually completed within an hour, so bending operations can begin shortly after arrival at the bending site. You will need to provide a power supply for the machines, which we can also arrange if necessary. The small machines operate on 230V/16A, and the large systems require 400V/32A.

 

Depending on the nominal diameter, bending angle, and bending radius, we are able to bend 6 to 14 pipes per workday. During the bending process, only a forklift, crane, or similar equipment is needed to load the bending machine and remove the pipes once the bending process is complete. For pipe diameters up to DN400, this equipment also assists during the bending process by holding and guiding the bent pipe.

 

A particular advantage of this service is that the pipes can be placed directly into the trench and installed from the machine after bending. This eliminates the need for additional transport.

 

We can also perform bending for you at our facility

 

With our in-house bending service, we perform the bending work at our facility in Celle. Here, too, we can process both pre-insulated plastic-jacketed pipes and uninsulated steel pipes


The pipes to be bent can be delivered either directly from the pipe manufacturer or by the end customer. Thanks to our extensive fleet of machinery, we can flexibly meet the requirements of your project and bend different pipe types simultaneously.

 

Once the bending work is complete, we can also arrange for the onward transport of the bent pipes upon request. To do this, we create a customized loading plan for the trucks to arrange the pipes on the loading area in the most space-efficient way possible. This optimizes the number of trips required and ensures the project’s logistics are as efficient as possible. Depending on how well the operation can be planned in advance, it is also possible for the same truck to continue its journey directly after the driver takes a break during the bending process.

Detailed Planning for Curved Pipes

 

In addition to bending the pipes, we handle the complete detailed design of the curved pipe sections upon customer request. By combining design and manufacturing under one roof, we can fully leverage the capabilities of our bending technology and optimize the route layout both economically and technically.

 

While the curved section is often depicted in design drawings as a continuous curve with a constant radius, in practice it consists of several individual pipe lengths of, for example, 12 or 16 meters. Since each bent pipe has straight pipe sections at both ends, the resulting curve is not perfectly continuous in reality. The actual route can therefore be better described as a polygonal path consisting of several consecutive curved pipes. In district heating systems, the actual radius also always differs between the supply and return lines.

 

When manufacturing precisely fitting curved pipes, it therefore makes sense to design each pipe within a curved section with different radii or bending angles. By customizing each individual curved pipe, the pipeline route can be optimally adapted to the actual conditions of the pipe trench. This allows for flexible accommodation of deviations between the plan and the on-site situation and enables the realization of the best possible route. Even in the tightest spaces, this ensures sufficient working space for subsequent trades such as welding and compaction.
